A sad, strange fairytale about a young girl who wakes up to find that the world has ended.

Mirabel is adapted from the 2018 storytelling show co-produced by Chris Goode & Company and Ovalhouse (now Brixton House).  Reimagined for audio by Chris Goode, the creator of the award winning Men In the Cities, this limited series also features the Offie-nominated sound design of Matt Padden.

Mirabel will be released in daily episodes, Monday 22 – Friday 26 June.

“… beautifully narrated and performed by Goode full of verbal musicality and playfulness and lovingly recited. Theatre News 4_stars.png

Goode provides a delicious dissection... Poetic in form and lyrical in delivery, he has a gorgeous grasp for words…” Broadway World4_stars.png

Mirabel is criss-crossed with reflections on adult- and childhood, reality and myth, and unfurling mental states. Its cleverness and sorrow is like the screaming-crunch of leaves underfoot after you laughed in delight at them being kicked high in the autumn air Exeunt

The language is evocative, delivered lightly and matter-of-factly, with instances of beautiful evocative imagery, quirky abstractions, and moments that are straight-up horrifying and macabre Theatre Box

With almost decadent deadpan humour Goode explores loss, survival, death and never-ending hope Verity Healey5_stars_80l3b.png

The writing is always starkly beautiful, often playful and it finds the absurdity in the terror Lyn Gardner, Stagedoor

In the middle of all the uncanny is Chris Goode, a marvellous presence, an even more marvellous voice, and surely our generations Virgil into and out of our very particular Inferno Dan Rebellato
